Last Day of Classes

Today was...you guessed it...the last day of classes at IWU!  We still have three days of finals next week, but the hard part is pretty much over.  This semester I took six classes.  Here's how I rate them:

Principles of Teaching - I'll give this class a B.  It started out slow and kind of boring, but I started enjoying it near the end.  It's a fairly easy class, too.  If I enjoyed writing lesson plans, I would probably give this class an A. But...I don't.

Humanities World Literature - I'll give World Lit a C.  I believe it deserves a C because it made me read all the time (which eventually I stopped doing).  The tests always proved to be hard, even the ones I studied for.  For that reason, I chose to focus most of my reading time on a class that mattered more to me.

Survey of Spanish Literature - I give it a B+.  It covered various works of literature in Spain, anywhere from Don Quijote to San Manuel Bueno, Martir...look them up.  The class gets a B in my opinion because, while the readings were interesting, some of them were super hard to understand.  Imagine reading Shakespeare, but in Spanish, and with language that is hundreds of years older.  That was my class.  My favorite novel that we read was La Regenta.  It's about an adulteress, her really old husband, the man she sleeps with, and a corrupt priest who falls in love with her.  Read it.  It's juicy.

Spanish Linguistics and Phonology - This class gets an A- from me.  I learned so much in this class about Spanish accents and how different the language is from region to region.  I also think I improved my accent a little bit.  But most importantly, I think I can understand fast talking Spanish speakers better than before.  That's what I'm taking away most from this class.

College Mathematics - I'll give it a D.  Oh my gosh...I couldn't be any more glad to be out of this class.  Math ≠ my thing.

Active Recreation Games - Finally, this one gets an A.  This class was pretty much a joke, but in the best way possible.  We played elementary school games every day.  The only terrible thing was that it was early, and I had to start waking up an hour earlier half way through the semester so I could go to this class.  Good thing I had some friends to get me through it. Shout out to J$, Lisa and Olivia.

Back to the last day of classes...

It started out with my RD, Pete, making pancakes in the South Hall lobby for all the residents; we ate them as we woke up and walked to class.  Delish.

Classes went really well.  Everyone is ready to be done and we're dreading/preparing for finals.  I feel fine about finals, I probably should be more concerned, though.

In the afternoon I had my classic Chic-fil-A, watched Survivor with Paige, then I did some homework and watched The Office, then grabbed some Mario's with three of my residents.  They're all crazy in their own way.  I could listen to Josh Matti talk about time travel and solutions to the world's economic problems all day long.

I'm on duty this weekend, so I'm in the South Hall lobby right now writing this.  Tonight has been great.  We had Christmas Cookie Decorating and Christmas Karoloke at the same time.  We ate cookies and Joseph Tatum led everyone in singing Christmas songs.  So fun.

Anyway, now I'm waiting till 2 o'clock when I can finally lay my head to sleep.
